Neurofeedback Training

Effecting Change in the Brain

Our brain contains approximately 85 billion neurons.  A neuron (brain cell) is an electrically excitable cell that processes and transmits information by electro-chemical signalling.  These electrical impulses and chemical processes within a neuron, enables it to communicate with other neurons and to cells throughout the body.  It is the electrical impulses that are impacted with neurofeedback training, effecting change at the neuronal level.

Traditional Treatment Methods

Traditionally, treatment for problems or disorders has relied on psychotherapy or drugs or both. These interventions can and do improve symptoms, however at times psychotherapy may not be very effective with the more difficult disorders and often drugs have significant side effects and/or lose their effectiveness after a while, requiring increased doses or additional drugs. Additionally, when drugs are stopped the symptoms most often return.

Safe Intervention without Side Effects

Research has shown that neurofeedback training is a safe and non-invasive intervention that can achieve positive changes within the brain, improving symptoms without side effects.  Neurofeedback training improves brain regulation, connectivity and coherence.  This can result in improvements to general brain function, emotional regulation, sensory processing, social understanding and information processing, maximising each client’s ability to achieve better outcomes in their academic, work or social environments.

Neurotherapy can often reduce the reliance on medications or it can assist medications to be more effective.
